PP melt-blown depth cartridges with high dirt-holding capacity and long service life, ideal for high-flow pre-filtration and UPW systems.

Depth filters use PP melt-blown or fiber-wound construction to build a graded-density structure — coarser fibers on the outer layer trap larger particles, finer fibers in the inner core capture sub-micron particles — distributing contaminants throughout the entire media thickness. This delivers 5–20× the dirt-holding capacity of surface (membrane) filters, making depth filters the preferred choice for high-flow pre-filtration.

JIUNYUAN depth filters are offered in two grades: Semi-Grade (semiconductor-grade) and General Industrial. The Semi-Grade line uses low-extractable PP resin, is produced in Class 100 environments, and is qualified by low-TOC and low metallic-ion release testing — meeting semiconductor UPW, CMP, PVA brush clean and POU requirements. The general industrial line covers retentions from 0.5μm to 100μm, delivering reliable high-flow pre-filtration at the lowest total cost of ownership.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are depth filters paired with pleated cartridges?
Standard two-stage: upstream depth filter (5–10μm) captures large particles and provides high dirt-holding capacity; downstream pleated cartridge (0.2–1μm) provides precision filtration. Depth filters cost ~1/5 of pleated cartridges and dramatically extend pleated filter life — best total cost of ownership.
Difference between PP melt-blown and string-wound cartridges?
PP melt-blown has graded-density structure (coarse outer, dense inner), high dirt-holding capacity, and stable retention. String-wound has looser structure, lower cost, but greater retention drift and lower dirt holding. Semiconductor and pharma applications should use melt-blown; non-critical industrial pre-filtration can use string-wound.
Can depth filters be regenerated and reused?
PP melt-blown and string-wound cartridges are single-use. Backwashing does not fully restore capacity and may release captured contaminants. Replace at set ΔP or runtime. For reusable construction, switch to sintered metal or ceramic elements.
