Hydrophobic PTFE Pleated Filter

Product ID: hydrophobic-ptfe-pleated-filter|Hydrophobic PTFE

Hydrophobic PTFE pleated filter element designed for filtration of highly corrosive liquids and sterile gases. Using biaxial stretching film hole technology, the hole distribution is extremely uniform. Its natural water-repellent properties can effectively prevent the moisture of the filter material from breeding bacteria during gas filtration. Medical grade biosafety, passed USP 87/88 testing and 1x10^7 CFU/cm² bacterial challenge test. Offering an extremely wide accuracy range of 20nm to 10μm and produced in a Class 1,000 / 10,000 clean room, it is the top solution for gas emissions from semiconductor chemicals and biotech pharmaceuticals.

This curve is for pre-wetted aqueous service; ΔP in gas service is far lower and should be evaluated against gas-flow conditions.

Where it fits

Hydrophobic PTFE pleated cartridges serve two fronts: sterile gas and vent filtration, and aggressive liquid filtration. On the gas side that means process gas sterilisation and biopharma venting; on the liquid side, semiconductor chemistries that would dissolve an ordinary polymer membrane.

Key characteristics

Natural water repellency is the core value in gas service. Gas lines inevitably carry moisture, and once water occupies the pores of a hydrophilic membrane flow collapses, while wetted media can become a place for bacteria to grow. Hydrophobic PTFE is not wetted by condensate and holds retention and flow steady in humid gas over long service.

The membrane is biaxially stretched for a uniform pore distribution. It passes USP <87> and <88> and a 1x10^7 CFU/cm2 bacterial challenge, plastic components comply with FDA 21 CFR and RoHS, and cartridges are made in a Class 1,000 / 10,000 cleanroom and dry double-bagged.

Operation & change-out

Install dry for gas service. For aqueous fluids, pre-wet with IPA or ethanol and then displace with purified water. Integrity is verifiable by diffusive flow or water intrusion test before and after use. Change out when ΔP reaches 3–5 times the clean initial value or 0.24 MPa (35 psi).

!
The flow curve in the specification table is aqueous, pre-wetted data; pressure drop in gas service is far lower. Evaluate gas duty against gas flow conditions — reading the water curve directly will oversize the filter.
Why is hydrophobic PTFE good for gas filtration?
Its natural water repellency stops moisture from condensing and wetting the media during gas service, which would otherwise let bacteria grow. This keeps the gas path dry and sterile, suiting sterile gas and biopharma venting with stable flow and microbial retention.
How is bio-safety validated?
It offers medical-grade bio-safety, passing USP 87/88 tests and a 1x10^7 CFU/cm^2 bacterial challenge, suiting gas and liquid filtration needing sterility assurance. For actual sterile use, confirm membrane integrity with an integrity test.
Can it filter liquids too, and what range?
Yes. It is designed for both corrosive liquids and sterile gas, so it also handles liquid-phase duties such as semiconductor chemicals. The very wide range runs 20nm to 10μm; select by gas or liquid service and required rating.
